Our goal is to provide our guests with an experience that they will remember. Comfort and luxury are what we want people to think of when they think of Maplehurst Manor. Our home has been described by guests as having “the warmth and comfort of my Grandmother’s house, combined with a subtle elegance”
A large, house-width front porch and a grand entrance door welcome you to an original elegant three-story walnut staircase, ten-foot ceilings, original ornate plaster medallions, and moldings.
These continue to the grand living room, which is thirty feet by fifteen feet. Period furniture and décor invite you to enjoy the restored slate and natural gas fireplace or just relax with some solitude or a game.
A formal dining room that is intimate enough for two and large enough for twelve is where the breakfasts will be served. Our gourmet breakfasts include locally grown ingredients, including fresh farm eggs.
Some of the features are a large bay window overlooking our sister home, “Swisscot”, a working original slate natural gas fireplace, period furniture, and décor. This room and a few other spots in the house are also going to be home to fresh baked cookies and treats for the guests to enjoy.
The meals and treats will be prepared in our professional/commercial-style kitchen. The kitchen has a nice blend of full-size commercial appliances that can handle the needs of a large group of people for a full multi-course meal. This, combined with quartz countertops, a farmhouse sink, and the warmth of custom cabinetry is a wonderful combination of vintage elegance and modern functionality. Further connections to the history of the home can also be found in the kitchen. There are two sets of stairs to the servant’s quarters, a couple of quaint pantries, and an exposed brick section of a chimney that comes off of the original bread oven used to warm the kitchen in the winter.
There is also a quaint, tastefully decorated powder room on the main floor. This is unique, as an original farmhouse-style sink from the early years of the house has been restored and repurposed on a cupboard from the 1800s. The room is further complemented by artwork/prints from the 1800s in their original frames. These features go very well with the exposed brick from one of the three chimneys in the home
One of our most exceptional features is our generous third-floor patio. This year-round space has one of the best views in the village. The hills of Westmorland County to the East, or Shepody Mountain and the Bay of Fundy to the West. Morning coffee at sunrise is stunning. Stargazing at night is spectacular as well.
This space can be enjoyed in the winter with a heater, hot chocolate, and blankets for two, or in the summer with a refreshing drink. There is never a bad view or time of year to enjoy the peace and solitude this space can provide.
If you would prefer a shadier spot, the front porch is a great place where you can unwind, shaded by one of the largest oak trees in the province. For even more privacy, the patio area off of the kitchen may hit the spot. It is nestled by a large gully shaded by many 100-year-old trees.
The comfortable, large private deck is also a nice spot to enjoy a meal or drink. The tranquillity and peacefulness the area provides can be enjoyed on the deck, or you can take the exit to explore the acres of beautiful countryside
